Core Faculty
When the CSDC first began its activities in 2006, we asked for faculty input on our mission, research agenda, and collaborative events. This was extraordinarily beneficial for initiating the CSDC's activities during its startup period. Since that time, the Center has become an increasingly successful and dynamic place because of the level and quality of faculty participation. Building on those successes, in 2008, we sought regular and formal input from a broader group of faculty to help us meet our goals. We established a core faculty for the Center for Social Dynamics & Complexity to guide this next phase of its scholarly development.
Core faculty members have a number of privileges and responsibilities. First and foremost, the policies and programs of the CSDC are guided by its core faculty, much like faculty guide the programs and policies of academic units. We hold regular faculty meetings where our core faculty collaboratively design center research and intellectual activities. Core faculty are invited to make regular use of the CSDC facilities for research team meetings, seminars, and student groups. The Center also serves as an intellectual “refuge” where they are free to think about new ideas and approaches, and to discuss them with a broadly interdisciplinary group of colleagues.
